Build the practice before raising the bar
Higher standards become sustainable when people have the routines, feedback, and support needed to reach them.
Raising the bar can create urgency, but urgency is not the same as capability.
Before increasing the standard, build the practice that makes the standard reachable. Clarify the work, shorten the feedback loop, and give people enough repetition to recognize quality for themselves.
The strongest standard is one the system helps people meet consistently.
