ServicePractical Note

Service is a practice before it becomes a value

Values become credible when they are expressed through repeated choices, responsibilities, and systems.

Service is easy to admire as a value. It is harder to maintain as a practice.

A practice is visible in repeated choices: who receives attention, how responsibility is shared, what happens when the work becomes inconvenient, and whether contribution is supported by the surrounding system.

Organizations strengthen service when they make it possible to practice—not merely safe to praise.
